Industry news on legal tech, digital transformation & innovation in law and professional growth.
In this month’s Digital Lawyer:
Digital transformation and innovation in law
Mark Le Blanc’s article explains how a modern in-house lawyer’s focus in this age of commoditization has evolved from negotiation of contract terms to advising on legal and business risk and being responsible for contract management systems.
“Chris Fowler and Jon Pedersen share ideas about how to begin and sustain a legal department’s digital transformation: what it means, how to prepare, key elements to consider, and important steps to take as you progress”. Access the article here.
Legal tech industry news
Alex Hamilton, the CEO of Radiant Law, lists basic legal tech solutions such as e-signatures, portals, dashboards and document automation that can effectively address the needs of specific users: who should implement what, how to do it and how much it would cost. Check the list here.
A legal design technique called Contract Design Canvas serves lawyers to visually map out their contract and align their content with the business goals. Verity, a Legal Counsel and Automation Coach at Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications and technology company, writes the article and comments: “If your contracts aren’t performing to their intended purpose, that is a red flag for re-design.”
Professional growth and personal productivity

Ken Grady pointed out 9 principles of global change management for law departments: “Now that change is constant in the legal industry, building change management skills is a valuable investment for lawyers. Getting many offices around the world to move in the same direction at the same time may seem like a daunting task.
